Description
Cycling Mount Kilimanjaro offers two distinct adventures: a 6-8 day technical summit climb to 5,895m via the kilema route or a 360° base circuit (460-500km) through local villages and diverse landscapes. Summiting requires high-altitude mountain biking experience, while base tours are suited for adventurous cyclists, with both best experienced during dry seasons (June-October, Dec-March).
Itinerary
Cycling to Uhuru peak (Roof of Africa) This adventures start from 1800m above the sea level, its takes 5-6 days up and down by mtb with great acclimatization days, some people has done it for 3-4days but its more about mtb skills and attitude adjustment
Day 1- kilema gate - forest camp
Day 2- forest camp-horombo
Day 3- horombo camp acclimatization
Day 4- horombo camp-kibo camp
Day 5- kibo camp acclimatization
Day 6- kibo camp - summit and down horombo camp
Day 7- horombo camp-Kilema gate
Options
-day 6 after summit some ride straight to the gate & some people skip acclimatization at kibo camp)
-day 1 skip forest camp and ride to horombo hut to make 5day trip
Difficulty & Fitness: These trips require high fitness levels, as they are both
physically and mentally challenging due to steep ascents, descending, and high
altitude.
